    Ferrari back? 488 Pista dominates Autocar 2018 Best Driver's car field including McLaren 600LT, Porsche 991.2 GT3 RS, F87 M2 Competition, Audi R8 RWS, etc.

    McLaren kicked dust in Ferrari's face since they launched the MP4-12C back in 2011. It was not even close between the two. Well, it appears the 488 Pista is Ferrari finally fighting back if Autocar's 2018 best driver's car results are to be believed.

    The 488 Pista dominates the field around the Anglesey coastal circuit:

    The brand new McLaren 600LT can't even get close. The difference between the two is 1.7 seconds around the circuit which is massive.

    The Porsche 991.2 GT3 RS is third quickest but clearly it is overmatched by the McLaren let alone the Ferrari.

    Field sorted from quickest to slowest:

    1. Ferrari 488 Pista
    2. McLaren 600LT
    3. Porsche 911 GT3 RS
    4. Jaguar XE SV Project 8
    5. Lotus Exige Sport 420
    6. Audi R8 RWS
    7. Aston Martin Vantage
    8. BMW F87 M2 Competition
    9. Alpine A110
    10. Ford Fiesta ST

    The McLaren is chosen as the winner with the 488 Pista coming up second but it is hard to ignore that performance gap between the two.

    Did Ferrari send a ringer? The weight is said to be 3053 pounds which sounds way, way too light. The Ferrari was said to run away on the straightaways. Is this another time that Ferrari sent a car with a 'press tune' to be tested?

    Let's see how the Pista does against the McLaren 720S. That is what we are all waiting for after all.

    Like the 488 they gave Motor Trend that was quicker than any privately tested 488.

    Sure they’re back. With a car running 10psi more boost than the showroom floor version.

    I know ferrari and other oem's are strict but they could bring a portable dyno and do it track side, they could also run something like the torque app and monitor the boost levels through the obd, they could have techs from local dealerships that would recognize if suspension/parts configuration look right.

    They don't want to do that because Ferrari doesn't want that.

    these mags can't find owner cars? nobody will do it for the attention of there car being in motor trend??

    They tried it for their test with the P1 & 918 a few years back. Ferrari threatened the owner. Most likely with revoking their access to future limited production models which saves VIP customers millions compared to people who buy them second hand.

    This. If you go against Ferrari's wishes they threaten legal action or will threaten to pull advertising among other things such as never providing a test car again.

    Then they restrict event invites or ask for final editing before publishing or all kinds of other lame ass stuff.

    They are the spoiled children of the automotive manufacturing world and magazines have no balls to call their BS.
