The Ecoboost 2.3 liter four-cylinder in the base Mustang and the Ford Focus RS are not the same. Actually, the Mustang's Ecoboost is quite weak. Just look at at a dyno and the stock torque curve. The powerband is ugly to put it mildly.


The Mustang Performance Package version for 2020 will get 330 horsepower compared to the Focus RS and its 350 horsepower. Maybe this is just a difference on paper to appease Focus RS enthusiasts.

Regardless, the Ecoboost Performance Package Mustang gets a revised cylinder head, head gasket, larger radiator, and larger turbocharger with 63mm twin scroll compressor.
