    • No F-150 Lightning, no problem - BMS + Pure Turbos upgraded F-150 2.7 Ecoboost runnin 13.1@110

Many enthusiasts miss the F-150 Lightning as a high performance truck built for the street was something special. Really it was the SVT Lightning that ushered in the era of supercharged domestic V8 performance when it debuted in 1999.

Well, if you want a modern alternative how about a 2.7 liter Ecoboost powered F-150 with tuning from BMS and a turbo upgrade from Pure Turbos? Earlier this month an article showed BMS extracting 477 rear wheel horsepower and 505 lb-ft of torque at the wheels from their 2.7 Ecoboost.

This translates to a 13.1 @ 110.02 1/4 mile as tested by GPS:

That 60 foot is very poor but just imagine an all wheel drive variant getting the same setup. Easy mid 12's?

If the 2.7 liter Ecoboost F-150 can do this the 3.5 liter turbo upgrade from Pure Turbos should really open some eyes.

Stock Raptor does 1/4 in 13.9sec, so quicker than a stock Raptor and over $20K less than a stock Raptor in a competitively equipped truck.

Or up to $30K less if you forgo nicer interior trimmings, and save even more than $30K if you go full work truck status.

Given that stock turbo Gen 2 3.5's are already hitting 11's at higher traps than the 2.7 above in bigger heavier Super Crew 4x4 configuration, I agree the Pure Turbo offering for the 3.5 should be quite impressive.
If Pure's story holds true for the turbos on this 2.7, it should have another 5mph of trap speed in it with additional tuning. It just needs some radials and maybe a little weight in the back to put the power down.
