    • 2020 on Mustang GT350 to get GT500 5.2 engine block - Voodoo V8 engine issues?

This is interesting as it seems the Voodoo V8 will get the engine block from the supercharged 2020 GT500. BoostAddict loves the Voodoo V8 with its flat-plane crank and 8200+ rpm redline but it seems the motor has some issues.

It depends what you read but Ford is clearly making the change for a reason.

Consequently, the Voodoo block got new, longer bolts for the cylinder heads, new gaskets, additional cooling passages, and different seals. The cylinder heads themselves are modified to deal with the additional heat and pressure, too

So, while Ford used the Voodoo as a starting point for this engine design, its ended up quite a bit different. Widmann did, however, tell us that the GT500s block will actually make it into the GT350 once its in production.
No word yet on any other changes or if Ford will go away from the flat-plane crank which is one of the defining characteristics of the GT350.

The main change they should make is giving the GT350 the GT500's dual clutch transmission.

I've always said the Voodoo was a classic BMW motor in spirit. Here's even more proof. Add bearing problems and you can just replace the Ford badge with BMW.

No IDP's and M street motors were always cross-plane but I can see your point.

Yeah I’ve read cooling problems plague the ones without the track pack option.

23k miles here, absolutely no oil burning issues, not even a hint of burnt oil smell. I think it's the way some people broke their car in.

I'm sure if the block is improved, that's a plus though...
